In the spring of 2023, we were introduced to the carpenter bee. We counted about 10 in our backyard throughout the spring. They hovered in place all around our back deck, looking for the perfect board to bore into.

It amazed me how they could core out a perfect hole in the wood to make their home. At first, I thought we had termites with all of the munching sounds we heard, until we found the dime size holes with these bees buried inside.
